Merry Christmas 2019

Hope you had a fabulous, peaceful, restful and overall blessed holiday.  As for me, it started out rough!  This is the time of year when all I can think about are my parents (which are no longer around if you're new here) and if you've been with me for a while then you've probably seen that

GOOD NYC DAYS

What a gorgeous weekend we had.  I hope every one of you had a blessed one – I definitely did.  I’m trying to make the best of my days, before the cold arrives.  Saturday I had a dentist appointment, I hate the dentist but we all know how important it is so I’m in there every 3 months for my deep cleanings.  Oh I had

Moving on up...

Sorry for the lack of posts!  I’ve been busy.

HUBBY UPDATE:  For those that read to find out how the husband is doing let me just say he is doing very well, I often tell people “he’s doing better than ME” and I really feel he is lol.  He has this strength and energy, I often wonder how the hell he does it, I get tired just by watching him.  With that being said he has his "crash" days as he calls them where he'll just sleep literally the entire day.  I’m so grateful though, such a huge difference compared to how he was last year and therefore the holidays were a little extra special for us.  To all that send us well wishes and pray for us THANK YOU!   Your prayers are working!!

So, we finally moved!  I will never understand how people move every couple of years.  I don’t ever want to move again, it is so exhausting, mind you I didn’t take any of my furniture and still it was a lot - 17 years’ worth of stuff.  I finally moved out of my very first apartment, crazy how I moved into that apartment with nothing at all except some childhood memories and a few shopping bags full of clothes.  A few weeks later we were gifted a black and white TV and a small cot (smaller than a twin size bed), about 1 month later 2 cats moved in w/ us, all four of us slept on that little cot and we couldn’t be happier.  I had a love hate relationship with that apartment and it was bittersweet leaving,  I left tons of good and bad memories behind but I look forward to what the future holds in this new home.  I moved into the home my mother left me after she passed away and after 3 years after her passing I finally moved in.  It was always hard going back to the house, just passing by that block gave me anxiety!  My mother would always tell me “that’s your house, everything I’m doing is for you, I need to make sure that you’re taken care of after I’m gone”, I never wanted the house!  I never understood why she'd think I wouldn't be "ok" and I would fight w/ her about it, she’d always say “que pendeja tu eres” and walk away lmfao but I get it now and I thank her every morning upon starting my day.  Hopefully I don’t sound crazy when I say this but I felt in my heart my mom wasn’t happy that I hadn’t moved in, she wasn’t happy when I rented it but the first week I moved in I felt her in my room watching over us happy that we were there and I could almost hear her say she’s happy with what I’ve done with the house.  I guess the timing was right, I moved when I was supposed to, I’m finally comfortable there.  God bless my husband for taking the initiative and getting it painted and upgraded to my liking (he added some surprises for me too) because I honestly don’t think I would have done it on my own.  I / we are working hard to make it “our home” and although I was extremely hesitant at first I did enjoy picking the paint color and directing how I wanted it done, I'm enjoying the decorating process.  I always received compliments on my apartment but it really didn't have my "touch" which I'll explain why in another post.  It’s been a few weeks since I officially moved so there’s still a ton to be done, a ton to buy but I have to say its getting easier, it’s all coming together.   My husband even commented on how different it feels and looks and that made me smile.  I will go into further detail on the colors I chose, furniture and what small upgrades we made in another post.  I had planned to blog / vlog the entire process but it was just way too much and didn’t get to do it BUT stay tuned because I plan on posting A LOT of home décor stuff and now that I have a yard and a new background I can post #OOTDs.

I posted random pictures which some of you may have already seen on Instagram.  Also, I apologize in advance, the quality of these pics suck.

Holiday Party

I only put up 1 tree in the past, really didn't want to put one this year but the Mr wanted one and ironically I found one in our basement so up it went and I loved it.  Please see my Instagram for a mini tree vid.

We finally made it to Manhattan.  We took a stroll around the city, had dinner and enjoyed the holiday festivities on a rainy night.  It was perfect.

End Of Summer

Happy September!!  Who else is excited about Fall?

Last week was hectic for me, work was a little crazy but I'm happy I survived.  It was one of those weeks where every single morning I contemplated on calling out - I didn't tho.  On top of the craziness I wasn't feeling well both mentally and physically.  I have so much to do and its not getting done.  Ugh!!

On another note I changed my social medias name to reflect this blog.  I used Sasse142 for so many years, I thought about it long and hard and decided Sasse142 isn't who I am anymore.  I came up with that name while sitting on the toilet ha ha.  I needed an AOL screen name and that's what I came up with, Sass E (e for Erika) 142 (the street I lived on).  I haven't lived on that street in over 22 yrs!  I changed everything to (or tried at least) NYCLifeandGlam.  After doing so it felt right, it was meant to be - I'm happy.

So, if you noticed from my pictures I beautified myself for my sister's birthday dinner. Dinner with a burlesque show and it was fun, I loved it, I mean who doesn't love a good Burlesque show, so classy.  It's been a while since I put on lashes or a full face of makeup for that matter.  The lashes made this simple look a bit more dramatic!  I swear if I had the time to put lashes on every day I would!  I love the way they make my eyes look not to mention I feel sexy.  I took the time to use some new FENTY BEAUTY items I bought a while back.  Huge rave for the Killawatt highlighter tho, I used it on my lids and it gave me the perfect amount of glitter 2 thumbs up for sure.  I'm loving Fenty Beauty products so far!  I will list all products below.

I apologize for the poor quality photos.  They were taken with my {very} old iphone.  I had no intentions whatsoever to have a "photo shoot".  The night was perfect and I just decided to go for it.

Harlem Nights

   CHEERS TO A GREAT SATURDAY

In celebration of my childhood friend's birthday (happy birthday Marcy) we decided to meet and have dinner at this amazing restaurant located in Harlem!  Its extremely busy so make sure you make reservations if you plan on visiting.

I went for the Surf n Turf!  It was delicious, the steak was so good!  I'm not much of a steak eater but this was on point 👌🏼.  I'm a bubbles kinda gal so I had a Bubbles & Pink, while my friends drank Ocean Goddess.  Both drinks were equally yummy!  I mean 3 glasses glasses later...

Passion fruit sangria and a birthday toast

We ended the night with some shots and a toast to long lasting friendship.  Seriously, how many of us can say we're close to our childhood friends?  Not many that's for sure!  Life keeps us busy, kids, struggles etc but we make it our business to get together whenever we can. Not as often but we try.

If you're in NYC near the Harlem area definitely give Ricardo's Steak House a try!  The food, drinks and vibe definitely get a 2 thumbs up from me!

39 and fabulous!!

Ooooh what a wonderful birthday I had!  I make 39 look good - don't I?  Ha ha ha!  It's been quite some time since I last spent a birthday in NYC.  I've gotten so used to spending my birthday in Puerto Rico, by the beach usually ending with a nice quiet dinner.  This year tho certain circumstances did not allow me to travel so home is where I stood.  The weather was good, rainy but not cold.  The Mr surprised me with a Broadway show (On Your Feet) and dinner at my favorite Cuban restaurant (Victor's Cafe).  The following morning my best friend surprised me, she stops by my house and literally rushed me to get dressed.  She left me no time to get pretty, I was so swollen, literally had that *I just woke up* look lol.  Next thing I know she drove me away.  She planned a brunch with some of my friends / coworkers!  It was such a nice gesture, I appreciate her so much!  I'm so grateful and blessed.  I couldn't have asked for a better birthday!  Let's see what 39 feels like...

Onto the pics....
