Merry Christmas 2019

Hope you had a fabulous, peaceful, restful and overall blessed holiday. As for me, it started out rough! This is the time of year when all I can think about are my parents (which are no longer around if you're new here) and if you've been with me for a while then you've probably seen that

Makeup vids have become so foreign to me but this weekend I felt inspired to record, on my phone but hey. Makeup isn't something I have much time for, the motivation isn't there but sometimes I have to remember makeup was my first love. Since kindergarten, back when I'd steal my mom's lipstick and apply it at school. I was way too advanced but I remember I'd always enjoy watching my mother apply makeup before going out. She's also dye her hair jet black, actually, it was blue black by Nice & Easy, funny how I once thought black hair was boring but that's all I do now - Jet Black. Ha, I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. My mom was the makeup queen so much so she eventually got it tattooed and her BFF was the skin care queen, the perfect duo. My teachers and my inspiration!! I remember my mom's BFF (Wanda) telling me to ALWAYS take care of my skin, and I did! Always have and I always will. Ha, random memory just popped into my head; I remember applying bright red lipstick on my little bro. Good times! With that being said makeup is art to me, a form of expression. Gone are the days when you wouldn't catch me without eyeliner or red lipstick. Still my favorite lip color btw! Times have changed tho. But this weekend I applied some and I was in my zone. I didn't do much but its amazing how little one can apply but how big the impact, it makes me feel pretty, put together, its my "me time", sort of like a meditation where nothing exists except me at that present moment.

WTF Retrograde

OMG!! The last 2 days have been absolutely NUTS! Everyone has been on a 1000, people have been so damn rude, attitudes every where, computers at work have been wacky. 2 more days of retrograde. Then it'll be over, back to normal - HOPEFULLY!

Anywho, how was your weekend? Do anything fun / interesting? Sunday, the Mr and I went to the movies, we saw 2 movies and had dinner. We saw Us and Capt Marvel, they both were pretty good, I'm not a comics type of chick but the Mr is converting and explaining the history to me, it's all making sense to me now. Saturday I really didn't do anything, I'm not feeling 100 yet so I relaxed and did some laundry. I wanted to record another clean with me video but the energy just wasn't there. I'm so tired of feeling sick. Tired of hurting but we're working on figuring out WTF is wrong with me. Every one is blaming old age and I laugh and go along but no, this is different.

Sunday gave me an excuse to get "cute" dressed comfy but threw on some makeup. I'm rusty AF! Gone are the days when I could do a winged liner with no prob but I did the damn thing and I was feel'n myself until I felt my lids sticking together. I had used a new liner - Fenty Flyliner. I've used it once before but it did not transfer the way it did on Sunday. I'm so disappointed. My lids felt really sticky and no matter how many times I cleaned my lids it just kept transferring. I don't know why it did this, I did nothing different than what I normally do when wearing eye makeup. I'll give it one more try if not then back to my Kat Von D tattoo liner I

End Of Summer

Happy September!! Who else is excited about Fall?

Last week was hectic for me, work was a little crazy but I'm happy I survived. It was one of those weeks where every single morning I contemplated on calling out - I didn't tho. On top of the craziness I wasn't feeling well both mentally and physically. I have so much to do and its not getting done. Ugh!!

On another note I changed my social medias name to reflect this blog. I used Sasse142 for so many years, I thought about it long and hard and decided Sasse142 isn't who I am anymore. I came up with that name while sitting on the toilet ha ha. I needed an AOL screen name and that's what I came up with, Sass E (e for Erika) 142 (the street I lived on). I haven't lived on that street in over 22 yrs! I changed everything to (or tried at least) NYCLifeandGlam. After doing so it felt right, it was meant to be - I'm happy.

So, if you noticed from my pictures I beautified myself for my sister's birthday dinner. Dinner with a burlesque show and it was fun, I loved it, I mean who doesn't love a good Burlesque show, so classy. It's been a while since I put on lashes or a full face of makeup for that matter. The lashes made this simple look a bit more dramatic! I swear if I had the time to put lashes on every day I would! I love the way they make my eyes look not to mention I feel sexy. I took the time to use some new FENTY BEAUTY items I bought a while back. Huge rave for the Killawatt highlighter tho, I used it on my lids and it gave me the perfect amount of glitter 2 thumbs up for sure. I'm loving Fenty Beauty products so far! I will list all products below.

I apologize for the poor quality photos. They were taken with my {very} old iphone. I had no intentions whatsoever to have a "photo shoot". The night was perfect and I just decided to go for it.
