Family Tradition

Mom being silly. She came over to make me pasteles (made both banana and yuca), a tradition for the holidays for most Hispanics / Puerto Ricans. It is a ton of work to make and it consists of graded green bananas or yuca pork, banana leaf, raisins, olives, a mixture of herbs, etc. Then you wrap, tie and freeze and when you're ready to make you boil for an hour. It is a tremendous headache to make but it's so worth it. We usually make it for Thanksgiving and we eat it through Christmas.

The memories is what I cherish every year when I help my mom make them. She's hella hilarious and I love that crazy woman to death.
